Anti-wrinkle Treatment

Why have anti-wrinkle injections?

As we age, the facial muscles we use everyday to smile, frown and laugh can result in the onset of unwanted lines and wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe and effective means of maintaining a fresh and youthful appearance without the need for intrusive cosmetic surgery.

Facial rejuvenation at Murton Skin Clinic is an effective and safe alternative to intrusive cosmetic surgery procedures. If you feel that you are starting to look older or tired, or even if you want to take preventative action before the onset of any fine lines and/or wrinkles, our Advanced Facial Aesthetics treatments; including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers can help you to achieve natural looking and impressive results. The treatments we offer can give you a more youthful appearance, by smoothing out unwanted lines and wrinkles.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle treatments are the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world, and it is clear to see why. It is an anti-aging treatment used to reduce the movement of the facial muscles, this softens and prevents unwanted lines and wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections are most commonly used in the upper third of the face, with the 3 most popular areas being frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.

How Does it Work?

The anti-wrinkle injection is placed strategically into specific muscles to block the nerve impulses and temporarily relax them, this softens facial expressions and helps to reverse the signs of aging.

The wrinkles become smoother or disappear altogether. The procedure is safe, quick and simple, delivering dramatic and noticeable results with minimal intrusion, pain or discomfort.

What Can Be Achieved?

Anti-wrinkle injections are widely used for both wrinkle reduction and prevention. Procedures include the following:

Frown lines: Reduction and prevention of the vertical wrinkles between your brows, caused by frowning.
Forehead wrinkles: Reduction and prevention of wrinkles on your forehead, caused by the movement of muscles during regular facial expressions (eg. Raising your eyebrows).

Crow’s feet: Reduction and prevention of wrinkles in the outer corners of the eye, more noticeable when smiling or laughing. These become more prominent with age.

Brow lift: Non-surgical brow lift to raise and re-contour eyebrows. Effective if concerned about heaviness of the upper eyelid and drooping brows.

Jowl lift: Reduce neck creases and help improve definition of the jawline

Drooping smile: Raise a drooping smile by reducing the downward ‘pull’ of the corners of the mouth

Gummy smile: Reducing the amount of ‘gum show’ when smiling.

Smoker’s lines: Reduce smoker’s lines caused by puckering of the lips. This improves the appearance of the outline of the lip.

Hyperhidrosis (excess sweating): Blocks the nerves that activate the sweat glands to help alleviate embarrassment of excess sweating of the underarm region.

How Long Does it Last?

Results of anti-wrinkle injections will become noticeable within 3 to 7 days. The longevity then varies between individuals but can last for between 3 and 6 months. The treatment can be topped up according to individual preference and the look you would like to maintain. Results vary between individuals depending on the severity of the initial lines.

Is it Safe?

Yes, anti-wrinkle injections have been used for over 25 years and have an excellent safety record as a muscle relaxant. As with any drug, there are always possible side effects, which will be discussed with you at your consultation.

Will I Look Frozen?

Results depend on the look you wish to achieve. For natural results, it is possible to reduce unwanted lines and wrinkles, without affecting your usual facial expressions. For more pronounced results, it is possible to increase the anti-wrinkle treatment and therefore reduce the movement accordingly.

Does it Hurt?

Anti-wrinkle injections are rarely considered painful, the majority of patients feel only a slight discomfort at most. After treatment, you may experience mild, localised redness which will subside over a few hours. You will be able to return to your daily activities immediately.

What is Hyperhidrosis - Sweat Reduction Treatment?

Hyperhidrosis is a common condition causing a person to sweat excessively. Although this is not damaging to your physical health, it can be extremely stressful and embarrassing.

If you feel excessive sweating is impacting on your normal activities then you may suffer from hyperhidrosis.

How Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Work?

Sweat reduction treatment is injected into the surface of the armpit. It is a shallow injection causing minimal discomfort. Sweat reduction therapy prevents sweating by blocking the nerve signal to the sweat glands.

How Long Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Last?

Sweating usually starts to reduce within 48 hours of the treatment. It would require topping up every 3 to 6 months for maximum effect. Keeping on top of the treatment will keep excess sweating at bay.
